I am trying to help a friend using remote assistance and it appears he has
an ADSL Router, a SmartAX MT882. I understand we have to open port 3389 on
this router. can anyone tell me how to do this. I know how to open the
administration screens for the router by putting 192.168.1.1 into the
browser but to open the port which selection do then make?
Thanks
Tony

Thanks Al. Is Port Forwarding the same as "opening a port"? The website
talks about Remote Desktop, is it the same procedure for Remote Assistance?
You say ignore the UDP Port 3389 portion, is this the static IP part of the
page, because I think his taltalk connection is dynamic IP?
Thanks for your help.

Yes its the same thing. Oopss I missed the RA part, but yes it sometimes
helps to open that port since both RA and RDP use it. You also may find the
information in this old thread useful...
