opening a pdf file

ok i'm trying to open up a pdf file and it comes up with
a thing saying whether i want to open it or save it. i
want to open it so i click on that. and then it asks me
what i want to open it with and i didn't know so i
clicked microsoft word and it comes out with pages and
pages of jibberish like symbols and stuff. i think it's
supposed to be opened using adobe acrobat thing so i
downloaded that. but when i go to open the pdf file it
automatically goes to opening it in word. how do i change
it so it opens using adobe acrobat?
 
Hi,

Hold down the shift key and right click on file that you
want to open with Adobe. An additional menu Open with
will appear and give u the choice of multiple programs.
Word and Adobe will be there. Click on Choose program and
u will get another dialog. Choose adobe acrobat from the
list and enable the checkbox "Always choose this program
to open this type of files" and ur problem will be solved.
