Hi
Please help!
We have Windows XP Pro on my laptop.
Whenever we open a drive on the server from this laptop,
there is a long wait & a blank window for 20-60 secs.
This is recent behaviour. It occurs whether opening a
folder from a shortcut, or using MS Word File | Open
command.
The problem is worst on this one laptop.
Both server & PCs are all patched up-to-date. Ihad an
idea it could be one of the patches that did this.

Any ideas or someone with similar experience?

Christopher

Chris,

Sorry, I don't have idea to fix it, but I'm experiencing
similar issues. I just posted the following in
the "Performance and Maintenance" forum:

Files are very slow to open from Desktop or Windows
Explorer.

Example: User double-clicks on a Word doc stored on the
desktop. It takes upwards of 2 minutes to open Word and
then another minute or so for the doc to open.

Same thing occurs with Excel files.

This also occurs when opening files by double-clicking
them in Windows Explorer, or by selecting them from the
My Recent Documents list in the Start Menu.

The problem occurs whether the appropriate application is
already running, or if it must be started to open the
file.

Files open normally using the Open File command, browsing
and selecting file from within an application (e.g. from
within Word or Excel. As far as I can tell, this is the
only way files are opening at a normal speed.
