Opening a file - asks for password

I want to add a downloadable catalogue (in Word). Users should be able to
click on a hyperlink and open the file. When I try to do this it comes up
with a dialogue box asking for network password. Obviously I can't give them
my password coz then they'd be able to change the web wouldn't they? What do
I do?
 
My experience is that it always happens to me on the machine I use to author
that web site - if you delete the entry for the web site from My Network
Places, the problem will go away. However, the next time you author that
site or publish to it will create another entry in My Network Places. I
just live with it. And don't worry, it's not something that your site
visitors will
experience - it will only happen on your machine.
