Hi,

I have just got visualdev 2003 and I have started creating a simple .net vb
program to display photos as a slideshow.

When i launch openfiledialog from within the compiled program on a dell axim
it works fine some times, but others, no files are shown and the whole thing
grinds to a halt requiring a reset.

Has anyone got any ideas on what might be causing it / solutions ?

thanks

Neil

Is a storage card installed? Do you have an "ignore_my_docs" file on a
storage card, does the card have a large number of files on it?

Hi,

yes it has a 512mb sd card, with around 120 directories and i guess 4 - 5
hundred program files and it has an ignore_my_docs file. I have just put sp3
on and it either works straight away or crashes the program.

thanks

Does it work reliably if you try it a few times with the SD card out? The
OpenFileDialog will try to enumerate all the files in the root and in direct
subfolders, you could probably get around the problem by "hiding" files
within an extra layer of folders...

Peter

it does appear to be related to the number of files that it is trying to
enumerate as it works 100% when I apply a filter to reduce the files it shows
and as I only want photos thats ok.

perhaps a tadge unstable code at the moment?

thanks for your help

Neil
