Hi,
Recently I tryed to open a file with no extension in
windows xp. I added a program to the open with list I
want to delete. I searched the internet for how to do
this and all the methods were only for when you add a
program to the open with list to a file WITH a file
extension. Can someone please tell me how to delete one
from the open with list from a file with no extension. I
also noticed the list for the a file with no extension
will appear on an open with list of a file with an
extension under the "Other Programs:" category.

THANK YOU!

Something to try, if you know how to restore the registry - just in case...

Start, Run, Type: regedit

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1131426265-79857088-3472284960-1006\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts

Select the extension you want to modify, choose "OpenWithList" and delete
the value you want removed from the list of programs.

The problem is what I opened with the open with list
didn't have an extension. Because of this going to the
key you listed in the registry doesn't help because
everything there is for extensions. Do you know where to
find where the open with list programs go for when you
open a file with no extension?

Thanks

Hi,

That utility will only let you delete open with list
program entries for files with extensions. The file I
opened didn't have an extension. Do you know how to
delete the open with list programs for when you open a
file with no extension?

Thanks
