open window "programs" when starting computer

when I start my computer (xp) the window "programs" is always open on the
desktop. why and how can I stop it?
 
Hi malin,

You probably have a damaged registry entry in a run key. Tough part is
figuring out which one. Could you please export and post the contents of
these keys in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

To do this, start/run regedit, expand the branches to each key (do this one
at a time). Click on the key, then on file/export. Give it any name, then
save to the desktop. Once you have saved both keys, close the registry
editor. Right-click one of the saved files on the desktop, choose edit, it
should open in notepad. Click edit/select all/edit/copy. Open a response to
this post and click in the message text area. Hit ctrl+v to paste the
contents. Repeat for the other saved key, then send the post for
examination.

Huh, haven't seen this in quite a while. You have installed your programs to
"C:\Program" instead of the normal "C:\Program Files". The problem is the
folder name of "Program", it too closely resembles a system folder name and
causes some confusion. The only solution is to uninstall the programs and
reinstall them to "C:\Program Files" or another folder of your choice, and
then delete the "C:\Program" folder. This is a known phenomena, and has
occured since the Win98 days. Here is some early documentation on why this
