Hi,
The MS-KB advices you to alter HKCR\Directory\shell registry value alone. Registering the Shell32 also alters the same value, and it resets thousands of registry keys to factory defaults. Registering the Shell32 is the easiest method in this case, method from MVP David Candy.
The problem may have occurred as a result of editing the File Types dialog or WindowsUpdate.

Ramesh.. Thanks very much... I followed the MS-KB resolution.. Just curious,
what is the difference between that and your REGSVR32 solution?
Click [Start] [Run] and type "REGSVR32 /i SHELL32"

When using windows explorer, I used to double click a folder in the right
pane and it would open. Now doubleclicking the folder brings up a seach
screen...How can I get it back to open rather than search?
Thanks
