Hi,
When I open Access 2007, I get a list of the recently opened databases that
I can choose from. But this list is not up to date because I have deleted
some of them and moved or renamed some others. I want to get rid of some of
them to clear things up but it seems impossible. The right click doesn't work
like it does with the Start menu.
I tried to delete some shortcuts in the recent folder (C:\Documents and
Settings\User\...) but to no avail.
What else can I do?
Thanks.

The MRU (Most Recently Used) lists are stored in the registry.

IIRC, there are programs that can clear MRU lists. You might search sites
like TuCows, Download.com, or Google for MRU list cleaners.

If you are really brave, you can use RegEdit to edit the registry... be sure
to back up your hard drive first. Don't say I didn't warn you :O

Hi Steve,
This answers my question all right. I am used to the registry (though not an
expert) but will leave it as it is for now.
I still think that it would be useful for the user to have an option on the
right mouse button that allows to delete such an entry.
Another way of doing would be to change the error message to:
"This link is not valid any more. You may browse for a new location or click
OK to delete it." (or something like that.)
Thanks for your answer. It helps me a lot.

How many files show in your MRU list? If it's ten files, then open
ten different files and close them. That will clean out the bad ones,
and no danger of slicing up the registry.

Hope this helps,
Chris M.

Hi Chris,
Your idea is good but the problem is that I only have two good ones, an old
one I use as a reference and a new one I am building when I get the chance.
With this new one, I create new versions regularly for backups and follow up.
So I may have version 02, 03, 04 and 05 in the same list and this is what I
do not like.
Anyway, I think this is not so bad after all.
Thank for your comment.

If a database has been deleted and you want to remove it from the MRU lists,
open the Registry (Start -> Run: regedit, Enter). Open the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Software
- Microsoft
- Office
- 12
- Access
- Settings
Locate the deleted database and delete its key.

Make sure you backup your registry if you are not comfortable being in the
registry.

I agree with you, there should be a better way for the end user to clear
this "helpful" way of opening a database.
