I've noticed that when I boot up I get a screen that asks which version of Windows I want to open--one of the choices is to open a "previous" version of Windows (that'd be XP for me). I didn't do a clean install, so I'm wondering if XP is still "alive" somewhere and available. Please tell me it is...and that I can to to it whenever I want...thought I know it can't possibly be...

You won't know the answer till you try it and it certainly can't hurt. You can also change which version is on the top of the list and the amount of time you have to make a choice in your Vista Control Panel under systems.

Sounds like it.Otherwise you shouldn't see a boot menu at all.

Okay, I tried...but got flummoxed when the XP Recovery Console gave me a choice of three locations to open--two on my "D" drive and then C://Windows. I was pretty sure that third choice was the right one...but I have no way of knowing. And I don't want to spend a week trying to get EITHER version of Windows back in working order!

Has anyone else done this or can you assist?
