How can I open Powerpoint 2000 with a single window showing instead of the
frames that is currently the default?

I do not have a copy of 2000 here, but in 2002, there is a default view
option under the Option => View dialog for Default view (open all documents
in this view). Normally it is set for 'The view saved in the file', meaning
the last view that was used. One of the available options is to open in
'Normal -- Slide Only' view. I'm sure there is something similar to this in
2000, and will look and report back to you when I get home tonight.

This option is machine based, so if you take the presentation to another
computer, it will open in the view that machine has been set to. You could
also force this view by using VBA and an event capture, but that may be a
bit of overkill for this need.

PowerPoint 2000 opens the presentation in the view it was saved from,
automatically. The View options in PowerPoint 2002 are new and don't exist in
PowerPoint 2000. But, if you alter the blank.pot, your default view can be
whatever is saved in the blank.pot.

Create a default "blank" presentation with your own defaults

Thank you for the correction.
