Open Outlook, it also opens Word

I click on the icon to open Outlook and it opens Word. Why
and how to stop.
I think my Outlook is 2000.
 
This is because you've set Word as your e-mail editor. You can change this
in Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Format

The Outlook Icon has been associated with Word. To correc the issue do the
following

Right click on the icon and choose Open With (if on Windows 95 or 98 will
need to hold down the shift key) choose Outlook. If you do not see Outlook
listed select Choose program. Check mark Always Use this Program.

This should take care of the issue for you.
 
Thanks you two for your reply.
But I need to clarify this a little. Outlook opens but as
it opens, Word opens with the dark gray background, like
it is not actually opening a Word doc. Outlook is open, is
is just underneath Word. I can close Word and continue in
outlook. I dont see any real problems with this, it is
just a major nuisance.
