Well, the great thing is, it doesn't cost anything to try it out Give it a
whirl, and let us know your results. If you run into problems, I'm sure
lots of people here will be willing to try to help you figure it out.
If you need Stedman's you'll either have to buy it or you already own it
anyway! So buy it and download OO and see how well they play together. If
it doesn't work out, it just means you 'll have delayed buying Office,
WordPerfect or Lotus WordPro for a week or two. (you didn't ask, but I vote
for a non MS solution if OO doesn't work out! - I'm an old WordPerfect guy
from way back)
I think Open Office has pretty good word processor and spreadsheet
applications, the other OO applications I am considerably less enthusiastic
about. To my mind, they are clearly at an earlier stage of development than
the WP and SS apps are.
