I've got MS Office on my PC, but I don't have Power Point as part of the license - so I needed an alternative. Matt suggested using Open Office a few months ago, as did a few others on here.
I've finally been using Open Office for a while now and I must say I am very impressed. The power point compatibility is 100% even with my old ppt files which contained loads of embedded objects.
If you are looking for an office alternative, I'd recommend downloading the Open Office 2 beta and giving it a go. Its not quite as polished, but its not far off at all.
