Open Office compatibility?

Vista Business plus Office 2007 sometimes causes
problems - particularly with Search/Replace - that MS
cannot resolve. A friend uses Open Office on his XP
machine for certain functions that create difficulties
with MSOffice. Documents apparently move back and forth
easily, retaining formatting.

Have readers here had success with Open Office on Vista?

Thanks,

Ike

OpenOffice works absolutely fine on Vista.

I am running it on Vista 64 bit with no issue.

OK on Vista family premium.

But see another post (today) that refers to non English grammar checking.

Basically, you don't need to spend good money.

Using OO on Vista will void your warranty and cause your cat to develop
hideous, fungating, boils. If you don't have a cat, you will be visited by
one afflicted even worse.

I have even heard of installations where the woman of the house went
completely bald!

No, not a good move. Instead, avoid conditional hyphens in Word documents.

If you need MS Access you'll need MS Office. OO has no compatible DB.

Will if you need MS Access you do not need MS Office. I have MS Access
and I use Open Office for everything else.
