Open Maximized

Running XP-Pro and Office 2003

I have gone to each Office program and set the properties to "run
maximized." When I click the icon to open the program, some of them open in
a maximized window and some do not. Particularly, Word opens as a small
window. I have manually maximized that window and then reset the properties
to "run maximized," but it doesn't seem to stay applied.

Excel an Power Point open maximized.

Any ideas??

Microsoft programs are often set to remember their last state when the main
window is closed. have you tried starting the program, closing the current
document, then maximising the window, then closing it?
Are the shortcuts pointing to a document or the program? the document may be
set to open in a certain configuration. I know there are excel files on my
work computer that keep removing toolbars on me.
