Open in New Window

A few weeks ago, Outlook began forcing me to open my calendar using an "Open
in New Window" choice (right click on icon) where I use to be able to just
toggle between email folders and the calendar with a single click.

At the same time, if I click minimize, the email folders or calendar
dissappears vs. remaining minimized at the bottom of the page.

I cannot find any functions to bring me back to that old status. Help?
 
On the second, are you minimizing outlook to the notification area (tray)?
right click on the outlook icon in the tray to check.
