I.E. 6.0 running on XP Home
Situation arose after updating Yahoo Messenger.
Earthlink is ISP.
Reboot does not fix problem.

Here are the scenarios:
Right click on a link and select "Open in New Window" As soon as the new
window is spawned the "parent" window closes.

The same thing happens is if double click the I.E. shortcut or executible to
open another window.

Under no circumstances wil I.E. allow me to have more than 1 I.E. window
open and it's driving me crazy.

Hi kermynator :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Go to Tools>Internet Options> Advanced tab
UNcheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts"
Click Apply
Close IE and reopen then see if the problem still exists

You may have a program running which is blocking pop-up windows-
something like Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, a firewall, Earthlink (or
another) pop-up blocker, etc. You'll have to uninstall the program or turn
off the feature that's blocking new windows.

With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.
