i would like to know if it is possible to click on a link saved on the
desktop to open the page in a new ie windows ?

or is it possible to use command parameters to do it ?

Thanks

For the latter, simply use a right-click for the second window to open
(open in new window) OR, shift-key>left click.

It's still not simple enough for me.

I want left-click => new window. Opening a new window for every linkn is my
default method of browsing and having to perform shift-click everytime
(requiring two-hands) or right-click>open in new window (requiring 2 steps)
everytime I visit a link...is a source of some pita.

Hi,
Shift+click can become automatic- trust me ;-)

If you want a select few shortcuts (or you have a LOT of spare time) to
always open a new process of IE try this:
Find "IExplore.exe" (probably in Program Files\Internet Explorer)
Right-click and drag IExplore.exe to the desktop and choose "Create
shortcut." Right-click that shortcut> Properties> Target, modify the Target
to include the URL.
Example:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"
becomes
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" www.yahoo.com
Note a space between EXE" and ww
Rename the shortcut if desired.

That should always open a new instance of IE for that shortcut.

Hope this helps,
Don

thanks , though rightclicking is useless (no open in a new window!) and
shifting is useless either , the options method works perfectly!

Thanks a lot

Well, shortcuts on desktop open in a new window whether I have the browser
opened or not. If I click 17 desktop shortcuts, I get 17 windows. Same thing
happens if the browser is open and I click a link. That is true for *most*
pages, but there are a few that must be written differently, and in those
instances, they don't open in a new window, IIRC. I can't find one right
this instant to confirm or jog my memory on that though.
