Open a file. I see things in reverse order. How do I fix this to default
to the correct order?

Explain a little better, please.

So you are saying you open a text file (for example) and all the text in it
has magically reversed?
Or are you saying that your folder listings are in reverse alphabetical
listing?

Click the column title and the order will reverse.

I mean the open file dialog. How do I get it to default to the correct order
by name?

Thanks.

Once you have it set the way you want hold down the Shift Key and close the
window by clicking the "X" in the upper right hand corner of the window.
This should force the setting to stay fixed.

There ius no "correct" order. You can sort the listing by any field you
want. Click on the field column's heading to sort on a particular filed.
Click on it a second time to reverse the sort, from ascending to descending,
or vice versa.
