open file window size and details

When I wish to open a new file, the open file window
appears. I then resize that window and change it to
details and click type heading to reorganise the list and
select the file.
However, when I next want to open a file in the same
session the window goes back to default.
Can you tell me how to overcome this please.

Unfortunately, the save and open dialog screens always default to List
view. There is no way to change this except adjusting it manually as you're
doing now. Sorry.
