open .exe file directly

Could I ask whether I can edit the registry file in order to open the .exe
file link from Internet Explorer directly without prompting the security
confirmation box every time? If so, how? Thanks in advance.

Used to be able to do a registry hack to get around that in versions of IE
before IE 4.x, but not any more - it's a security issue. Here's the old KB
