Are there any programs that will just display the entire .doc file?

Yes, there is such a program: Microsoft offers the MS Word Viewer for
that purpose. You can find it in the MS download centre.

Someone sent me a .doc file that has images in it. I use Atlantis and it
doesn't show the pictures. Are there any programs that will just display

if that is what it takes I guess I will use it.

If they're MS Word format documents you can download a Word reader utility.
It's essentially Word without a SAVE option. It's typically bloaty, but
does a fairly decent job of reading most Word format document files.

If it's some other document format, speak up and there should be a reader
available. There are many formats of "document" files.

Michael, it may open in WordPad depending on the graphics. Give WP lots of
time to open it. I just tried a doc I have with a small BMP (my signature)
and a 8x10 jpg (grayscale of a diploma), total doc 365KB... it took ~ 2
minutes to open (P3-800, 512megs...).

Good luck

I don't know specifically what version Word is up to these days, but the
story most of us would read here is that the sender sent DOC format 2002
or some similar. Nova says it supports MS Word 6.0/95/97/2000 DOC. Higher
than Wordpad supports. But not high enough for this case, where was needed
the MS Word viewer, for viewing of latest format.

AFAIK word 2000, Word XP and Word 2003 are the same format

All word versions until 6.0 used a different format with eah major release.
word 6.0 and word 95 use the same format,
word 97 and up (including word 2003)also use the same format.

The latest version of the Micro$oft Word viewer is from the year 2000.
