Hi

I'm using Office XP on XP prof.

When I click on open in Word and get the usual dialogue box with list of
files etc, down the left hand side there is a column headed 'look in:' and
the icons for Favourites, History, My Network Places, etc. Is there any way
to add (or remove) icons+links in this column (it would be great to be able
to add a couple of very frequently-used sub-folders)

Thanks

Jack Ogden

What I do is to create my "main" folder where all my documents are going to
be stored, then I create subfolders below them, then I open Word, click
"Tools", "Options", "File Locations" TAB. Click the "Documents" file types
and click the "Modify" button. Browse to your "main" folder and set it as
the default location for files. Click "OK" to close out. The only thing
left to do might be to move some of your existing documents to one of these
new folders.

That's what the Places Bar is for. You can't add files, only folders, so
select a folder and choose Add to My Places from the Tools menu. To make
room for more "places," choose small icons. You can also drag the File Open
and Save dialogs larger if desired.
