open an excel 2007 file

Hi,
I'm having problems opening a file.
I've installed Office 2007 (original) on WinXp Pro (original) and when
a file is created under Excel (using some data in cells) and saved
i.e. on desktop, when this file is re-opened appears only the Excel
program, without cells and data.
I've also tried the restore procedure but ti's the same.
Office 2007 has been registered and actived.
Where is the problem?

Can you open excel, then use ctrl-o (file|open in the old menus) to open your
file?

If yes...

You are suffering from a common problem that lots of people have complained
about. The workbook is open, just not visible.

One way to see it is to click on the Office button and start to open another
workbook, but then just dismiss the dialog. You may see your workbook open
after this. (Ctrl-O, then escape may work???)

Currently, there isn't a fix--just workarounds.
 
Ps. I was guessing that you were opening the file by doubleclicking on it (on
the desktop).

If you were already going through the dialogs, then ignore my response.

I had a similar problem in Win XP. I would double-click on a file and
another blank instance of Excel would activate, but with no file opened.

I day earlier I had turned on "Ignore other applications that use DDE". I
thought it would speed up the opening of files. When I turned it off again,
Excel was working properly.

The feature is found under Excel Options, Advanced, General section.

On another post elsewhere on the Internet, a user reported that deleted (or
not opening) her personal.xls fixed the problem.
