Open a database in design view

I created a database a while ago and hid the menus, etc. Now I want to go
back into the design of the forms, queries, etc. But It won't let me in.

What is the trick to open this up so I can see how I design my forms, etc.

Depending on what you did before, it may be enough just to hold down the
Shift key while you open the database.
