Hi!

I added a user to my Access database under the User and Group Accounts menu.

After i did that the database now starts without prompting for the user name
and
password. It does this from any machine!! Which is a security concern!

I cannot make changes because it is by default opening up as a user NOT as a
admin.

How can i get the database to prompt for a user/password again!

Thanks for your help!

Eddie

use the program wrkadmin.exe (normally in the office installation folder) to
join to the system.mdw file or use a shortcut on the desktop that opens your
database and forces you to use a specific system.mdw file.

I tried that and i also went to the .mdw file to open the database and it
still opens without
asking for a user name and password. Its like the database just logs in
without
asking as a user.

Your help is appreciated!

Eddie

Sounds like you are being loged in as ADMINISTRATOR with no password. You
can go to the "change password" and set your password.

The MUCH BIGGER issue is that your database is probably not secured at all!
If you join the default workgroup (or try to open this file on another
machine) are you able to get in? If so, then you have NO security in place.

This happens when you do not follow ALL the steps in the SECURITY Whitepages
IN ORDER.

Hi!

I ended up just replacing my .mdw file with a restored backup.

That worked out!

I will look in to your suggestions!

Thanks!
