tab off the front of my socket A...now the spring for my heatsink doesn't
catch. Are there any other fasteners/heatsinks that will work with my AMD
Athlon XP1800+? Thanks a lot for any help!

Ooooh.Nasty.
What about a bodge?
Can you use a small piece of plastic or the old bit with some
superglue?

Not very well...the little bugger broke off and disintegrated into several
pieces. After some research, I do find that there are heatsinks with triple
clips that attach to all three tabs: among them are the Vantec CopperX and a
product by the company Goliath. It's just that space is limited since I'm
dealing with a mid-size case and the power supply sits directly over the
processor. Any other suggestions are appreciated...I'm sure that NOBODY here
has ever done such an idiotic thing, but maybe someone knows of a
not-too-big heatsink with triple clips :-) Thanks again, everyone.

This one keeps my 1800 very cool. And it's quiet.
