I have had several students bring me their saved PowerPoints in a zipped
(compressed) folder. When I unzip them there are a bunch of folders and
diffrent XML files, but nothing that I can use to read the XML files (no
..pptx or htm document). Is there a way to "recover" the presentation?

TIA!

Change the extension of the compressed folder (.zip) to .pptx and see if it
works this time round.

Sounds like they've uploaded PPTX files to a server of some sort, then
downloaded them. Some servers don't have the PPTX file type listed properly,
so they get converted to .ZIP files.

Try renaming the file extension from .ZIP to .PPTX and see if you can open
that. If you're using PPT 2003, you'll need to install the compatibility
pack so you can open PPTX files. Here's a link to it:
