I have turned my computer off a dozen times today. Out of curiosity I unplugged my phone line and it didn't mysteriously turn itself back on. Any ideas how I can get my computer to stop turning itself on without unplugging the phone line every time? I need the phone line for dial up.

Check the BIOS power options

In the bios, look for power options - specifically something along the lines
of "wake on ring"

Turn option off! Save and reboot. Problem gone.

Disable wake on modem or similiar lingo in the bios.
