Jim

Hello,
We are using Windows 2000 and I set a dial-up connection
and we are using this connection to transfer some files to
another computer in another site over modems. I would like
to set the modem on my computer for only outgoing
connection not incoming. So if someone dials the modem
that is connected to my server I do not want the modem set
the connection, how can I do that?
Thanks,
Jim.

Hi Jim,

You can configure your modem not to take incoming calls by:
1. Start -> Run -> rrasmgmt.msc
2. Right click on ports node -> properties
3. Double click the modem device in the list
4. Uncheck the "Remote access connnections (Inbound Only)"

Hello Chetan,
When I run that, I see our server name and state
is "Stopped (unconfigured)". Does this guarantee to stop
incoming calls or I have to configure it and uncheck
the "Remote access connections (Inbound Only)"
Thnaks,
Jim.

Hi Jim,

Then you are all set. Your modem willn't accept any incoming calls if RAS
isnt configured.
