It's not the common problem of "Open Link in New Window",
that part works, i.e. if you want to use the same window
you just clicked the link from! I can't use Ctrl-N, nor
the drop down File-New-Window. When I do, you can see for
just a brief second a second window opening on the toolbar,
but then it disappears and it simply reverts back to the
original window. It will allow my to open any other type
of program (thus multiple windows on my desktop)and even
will open up My Computer using IE6 when I have one window
open to the net. It just won't allow me to open up
multiple windows to work the internet with.

It worked fine last night when I shut it off. But when I
opened it up today, the problem occurred. Before this, I
had ran Spybot-S&D and immunized, had not started
Webwasher, did delete Second Thought, AdDestroyer,
Prizesurfer and RC something or other (the partner in crime
with Prizesurfer). Apparently in doing so, I messed
something up!

I have deleted WebWasher and Spybot S&D just in case they
were keeping me from opening up a new window. Didn't work.

I have also gone through the steps of corrections for the
"Open Link in New Window" problem, just in case. Didn't work.

I've tried to reinstall IE6 (couldn't delete IE as it
doesn't show up anywhere I can, including the Add/Remove
Programs option and there was no "Uninstall" program with
which to do so.) Didn't work.

I, only as a last resort downloaded Netscape 7.1, but
already hate it, as I can't use my Yahoo Companion and it
won't let me look at census images like IE6 will! However,
it will allow me to open as many windows as I want.

Can someone please tell me what I did and how to fix it?

Thank you!

Hey Robear,

My Windows versions is Me. And it only happened some today.

Since I posted this message, I decided to see if there was
a fix for uninstalling my IE6. And I found where I could
copy and paste a line into my Start- Run to get it to
automatically bring up the repair/revert option.

First I repaired, and then it did start showing up in the
Add/Remove Programs, so I reverted back to the previous
installed program, which as it turns out is IE5.5 version.

It now has the Yahoo Companion showing up on it and I now
can open more than one page. But again this is using the
5.5 version. I might try reinstalling the IE6 and see what
that gets me. I guess I might just see how much better 6
is than 5.5 and then decide I'll just stick w/the earlier
version.

Thank you for responding to my distress call! And if, when
I reinstall 6.0, and I still have the same problem, I'll
let ya know.

Again thank you!!
Kelly
