Only one IDE controller on motherboard

I am building a new computer using some parts of my old. My new
motherboard only has one IDE controller which is being used by my dvd
and cd drives. I have one open PCI express slot, but no PCI slots
available. So I need to convert my hard drives to SATA, as these are
really the only open controllers. I have seen cards,
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1567086&CatId=1455
, that can do this, but they are SATA I, my motherboard is SATA II.
Can I use these cards? Can I still run the parallel IDE ribbon to both
hard drives? Would I need two of these cards to run both hard drives?
Any other options?

I have also seen options to run the hard drives to USB ports like this,
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1951866&CatId=2213,
any thoughts on this tactic?

I would just purchase a SATA HD, but my old computer bit it, and I
would really like to recover the music and pics from these old HDs.

If recovering data is your primary goal, get the SATA drive and
install the operating system on it. When that's done, connect the old
IDE drives in place of the optical drives, and transfer the data to
your new drive.

So why did you buy a motherboard with no PCI Slot? Are you dumb?

Duh, Duh, Duh, thats all folks.

Good luck.

You could maybe find an old used motherboard/ second hand computer from
someone like yourself or a gamer that has upgraded and will let you use the
old hard drive or the old system till you can copy your files. People
always have old junky computers sitting around collecting dust.

Do you now feel smarter for having derided the intelligence of someone
else? Certainly we are all now thinking that you are brilliant. Good
job Boy Scout, I think you have missed the purpose of these forums.

Also the motherboard has two PCI slots and three PCI Express. The two
PCI slots are full and only one PCI express slot is available. If you
read the post you would have seen the word "available" implying that
the slots were being used. Subtly is clearly not your forte.
