Hi Group..

I have this computer P4, 512 RAM
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
Monitor: ELO Accutouch 1595 (TouchScreen) with Serial interface

Once each day, when I first turn on the PC, Windows loads, but just right
after the desktop shows the Image on screen goes blank (black). The Caps and
Num Lock switches ok but ther is no image. I thought probably is a monitor
problem but monitor works ok on other PC. Also, I can not connect to the
computer via pcAnyWhere.

Only way to get out of the situation is turn it off. Then I turn it on and
works like nothing happened.

I've not found any record on the System or Application Logs, that can give
me a clue of what is going on there.

As it reads on the Subject Title... it only happens by morning around 9am.

I am very confused...
Do you guys, have any Idea what could it be happening

Any comment is greatly welcome.

See if there is a more recent version of the driver for your video card from
the card's manufacture's web site. Do not use Windows Update to install
drivers, get them direct from the manufacturer's site.

Does it go black and stay black? How long did you wait before turning it
back off?
Is it the monitor or the PC? Did you try it on a different PC first thing
in the morning after sitting overnight?
Could be the monitor just needs time to warm up?

it's a LCD monitor..

This problem has only 1 week and we've been using the station for 3 years.

Never before needed to warm up the equipment.

If the keyboard is visibly doing it thing at POST, but there is nothing
visible on the monitor at POST, AND you know the monitor works ALWAYS, its
the video output from the PC.

POST is Power on self test done at boot time during bios routine prior to XP
booting.

If you use a power strip/UPS, energize this for about ten seconds prior to
turning on the PC in the morning. Turn on all the peripherals first, wait
ten seconds, then turn on the PC.

Thanks Jonny for your comment...

The PC loads Windows then "This" happens...

the POST could make this effect?

Problem persists...
Today happened again...

Today I found that I can not access files of the
"Station-with-morning-problem"
from another PC on the network.

Weird, is like it shuts down but with LEDS on, keyboard switching NUM-LOCK,
fan blowing out warm air....
only thing congruent is that the HD LED doesn't show activity just solid
green light.
Any comments?

Did you try a different video driver?

No, POST is directly not related to XP, its a bios function that occurs then
relinquishes control to the OS. The video should not quit when entering the
desktop display in XP. If it ONLY occurs there, its most likely a software
problem not compatible with the video settings. Does it do this in safe
mode, ever? Remote chance the power supply is marginal.

now it freezes on the Windows XP screen... doesn't reach the welcome
screen.

I'll try on safe mode and the I'll tell you what happened
