Good Morning,

When I try to load Outlook 2003 I'm getting a message about Outlook did not
exit properly the last time, would I like to run Detect & Repair. I do this
and all that comes up is the Outlook toolbar, no viewing panes. When I try
to put the cursor on the toolbar it changes to an hour glass. I can exit out
using the hour glass but can't do anything else. I have tried for days to
get this to work. I Uninstalled Outlook and reinstalled it, same problem. I
uninstall Office 2003 and reinstalled the complete software, same problem.
I've ran scanpst.exe on my .pst files. When I log in and run it from Drive
c: it works o.k.. When I log in and connect to the network I get the above
problem.

Thanks for any help.

Dual boot? Does each boot have it's own installation or are you sharing an
application partition between installations?

Are you using word as the editor? if so, open word first, answer any dialogs
it might throw up and close - restart outlook. Does it load now?

I'm uncertain if I'm sharing an application partition?
I went in Word and exited. There were no dialogs.
I restarted Outlook, got the messasge: Outlook failed to start correctly
last time. Starting Outlook in safe mode will help you correct or isolate a
startup problem....., and if I wanted to start Outlook in safe mode. I said,
yes, and it only Loaded the tool bar at the bottom of my screen and started
the safe mode . It shows me the full Outlook window as it should but it also
shows a Configuring Outlook box with Migrating Account Setting Highlighted,
but then it hangs up. How long does this usually take? I have left it for a
good half hour or so, it doesn't look like it is doing anything and so I exit
out. The following steps are to follow Migrating Account Settings:
Migrating Preferences, Creation gwelcome Message, Importing User Data.

I am totally confused.

Thanks again for your help.

I created a new profile and was able to get Outlook working again. Missing
some previous messages but I should be o.k. I imported my address book and
personal folder information.

Thanks for your help

Never import. Just open the previous PST with FIle>Open>Outlook Data File
or, better yet, use the existing PST in the new profile.

Thanks Brian, that was very helpful.
