online forms take a long time to show data after typed in?

I have been using 2000 professional for several years
without a glitch. Recently I am noticing how long it takes
for typed-in letters and numbers to show up on screen
after being typed. In fact - it can sometimes take 30
seconds or longer for the cursor to change from pointer
to "ready" hand icon to even allow something to be typed
in! This is frustrating to say the least when entering ID
or password information to sign on to my ISP or log into
secure websites. I recently added a router and firewall
to my system, but this problem was happening even prior to
that. I use Norton antivirus 2003 and did not find any
problems on scanning. I'm wondering if a key-logger is
running without my knowledge ...gleaning password and
other sensitive data??? I'm nervous about was is causing
the slowdown. Browsing the web seems normal enough and all
other apps seem to open and run the same as ever. Maybe I
don't have something configured correctly in the
Administrative tools area. If someone is logging my
keystrokes or gathering my typed information - how would I
know since my antivirus program ( which claims to be up-to-
date on definitions) doesn't notify me of any potential
threats??? Insights from computer gurus are welcome!

Are you using the latest version & SP & patches for IE? Run Windows Update
lately? Deleted your IE cache?

Keyboard loggers try to be unobtrusive as possible and I doubt would slow down your
keyboarding, however I would suggest that you also run a parasite detection program
such as Spybot Search and Destroy which would look for keyboard loggers and other
junk that you can pick up from internet browsing that would not be classified as a
virus and as such would not be detected by an antivirus program and also clear your
temporary Internet files as Lanwench recommended. I would also go to internet
options/tools/content/autocomplete and select clear forms and clear passwords. ---
