Hi

My company wants me develop a tool (an online activity tracker) which
can be deployed over LAN and helps a project manager keep track of the
activities of the team members.The tool should notify the Project
Manager whenever a team member finishes a task and updates his/her
assignment.Such tools are available in the market but are very
expensive.Can such a tool be developed in excel and deployed over LAN
?

The only part of this I cannot comment upon is the security issue or *uix
systems. Otherwise, sure, an Excel link can work over a LAN at least under
WindoZe. In fact, I have a sheet with many such links to closed and open
Excel files that are on a LAN. Recalculations are _very slow_.
