All of our Win2K Workstations and Server throw the
following error message about every 90 minutes.
Event 1000 "The Group Policy client-side extension Scripts
was passed flags (16) and returned a failure status code
of (3)."
In addition I am getting an an Event 1001 "Could not
locate the script command lines in the Group Policy
Object" when the server is restarted.

Any insight on this would be appreciated.
Thanks, Richard

Hello Richard.

It sounds like you have a script configured in your group policy that cannot
be found on your network. Failure status code 3 equates to "The system
cannot find the path specified."

You can find what other status codes mean by using the command line utility
"net helpmsg ERROR#".

Please insure that the paths to the script are configured properly. You may
want to take each script and its path, and test them on clients (running
them manually). This will ensure that the users/computers have network
access to the scripts.

Thanks for the reply David,

I agree with your thoughts on this, I just don't know
where to go from here. We do not have any logon scripts on
the network although I used to have one for the domain
admin logon. So far as I can see it is not being called in
any way.

If there is a script configured in the Group Policy could
you suggest how I would go about finding it.

Is it also possible that the path to scripts in
WINNT\SYSVOL\SYSVOL\SCRIPTS isincorrectly defined in a
registry key somewhere?

I appreciate the help, Richard
