Ongoing Mustek 1200 UB Plus problem

I have what appears to be a rather common problem, in that I have been
unable to get a driver that will work under XP with this scanner (which came
under the name ScanMagic). Every driver I use gives me an error on boot up
that says "Error loading driver" or something to that effect. This comes at
BOOTUP, if that means anything.

I've google searched out the ying-yang, downloaded every possible driver I
can find, done a newsgroup search of THIS group, unistalled and installed
again, and done just about everything short of taking a hammer to this
thing.

I find LOTS of people complaining about this, but have never found the
proper answer. The driver I'm currently using is dated 4/2/2002 and is the
driver that was included in the XP driver pack from Mustek.

Any help solving this would be appreciated.

Mustek support is rubbish in my experience-- After buying a previous model,
I found that I couldn't get it to work using WinME , phoned support lines in
Germany at premium rates who were determined to extract every last dime...
After wasting a load of time and money , I binned it , bought an Epson, and
vowed "Mustek" never again...
Just my experience- Forget any European support.....
