OK, I have 2 pcs on a newtork (both run XP Pro) machine A can see machine B
and it's shares and can ping it by name and IP.

Machine B can see that machine A exists on the network in "My Network
places" but if I click on machine A's name in My Network Places I get the
error "The user has not granted the requestes logon type at this computer"
Also B can ping A by IP, but NOT by name..if I do it by name it finds the
wrong IP.
Also, I cannot manage to map a share since no ID password pair works..

I have read many references to similar problems along with many seperate
things to check, but never in one list.. and the symptom has changed
slightly (I changed something). Previously when I clicked on machine A I got
a userid and password dialog that never did anything for me, so one setting
did change something.

Can anyone take a few minutes and tell me everything to check on machine A
so machine B can ping it by name and access its shares? (too bad there isn't
an easy way to 'clone' the network settings from B to A since machine B's
settings work to allow machine A to get to B's stuff)

Thanks a lot... I realy appreciate it..

I have the EXACT same problem except I can ping machine A
by name. Please let me know if you find a solution:

Thanks very much!

It seems your DNS dont work correctly on machine B.
You need correct it, or add entry in hosts file on machine B.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts for WinXP installed on C:\windows

Also lookup WINS
or equivalent lmhosts on local machine
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hmhosts
