I have just connected to a oneway satallite internet
connection and can not get it to be shared by othe
computers on my local home network. I am using SatDirect
Plus software and have followed there networking
instructions, but am unable to get the client computer to
see the internet. On the host system there are 3 Local
Area Connections on the Network and Dial up Connections
window. I have enabled sharing on the MainData Hybrid-net
Single user Adapter connection as instructed by SatDirect
and have configured the client 3Com officeconnenect NIC
with the specified Perferred DNS and Alternate DNS
addresses as instructed. The third Local Area connection
is forB2C2 Broadband Receiver PCI Adapter. However, I am
unable to get to the internet from the client machine. It
displays the standard " The page cannot be displayed"
error page with cannot find server or DNS Error atthe
bottom of this error page, when I try to open up Internet
Explorer. I am using Windows 2000 Pro operating systems
on both computers

I am sure I donnot understand how to make the proper
setting on either the host or clinet machine.

Can someone offer any advice or direct me to a soucre to
solve this.

Thanks,
Steve

Seems like the biggest thing you are missing is a router
of some form.
On my home netowrk I use a D-Link DI-704P Residetial
Gateway Router which should be the source to which all
your other computers connect to.
Just having a hub will not work, I dont like using the
internet connection sharing wizard within the windows
system because its a pain in the butt and never works
right.
Your router will become your DHCP server, your DNS server
and will asign all needed information to your adaptors.
I really cannot go on too much about this because it
would be like writing a book and I really dont have time
to do that right now :)
Look into getting a router, I can't say much more on this
becuase I also don't know how your one way dish works!
Sorry.

I had satdirect plus also, you can't share out the modem,
only the hybrid-net adapter for the internet connection
sharing. This stopped me cold after the upgrade.
Change from the modem to the hybrid net adapeter and it
will work fine.

Also, make sure each client has the DNS entries for
satdirect. Router solution will not work, since ou need
the uplink from modem.
