i have a small network of Windows2000 server with five
workstations. Couple of them XP Professional. The network
functioned normally. Recently I bought a DELL 2400 with
XP Professional SP1. This connects to other computers and
the server and I can map network drives. I can ping by
name and by address from this computer to other
computers. But from the server side and other computers I
can not ping or connect. I first tried by removing this
computer from the domain and recreated trust. I changed
the computer name and tried. The effect is the same. I
also tried reinstalling the TCP/IP protocol. All these
were suggested by Microsoft KB. The TCP/IP configuration
is the same for all the workstations and all of them work
fine in the domain. I would appreciate any further
suggestion. At work when this happened the renaming
computer and re-creating the trust worked always.
Reinstalling WindowsXP is an option but I would prefer
that as the last option.Thanks.
