I can ping my Toshiba tablet from my desktop computer but
when I "Net View" it, it fails. I also get the "Error 5"
Thus, I cannot get my workgroup on my desktop to reach my
tablet. I have no firewalls on. I do network well the
reverse, from the Toshiba to desktop. Any ideas on how
to get my Toshiba Tablet to be more polite?

Error 5 means "Access is denied". One possibility is that the share
permissions on the Toshiba tablet are set up improperly. Running the
Network Setup Wizard might help.

Another possibility is that a firewall program is blocking access to
the Toshiba. Disabling a firewall program might not be enough.
Un-install all firewall programs while troubleshooting, then go to
Start | Run | Msconfig | Startup and disable any remnants of the
firewall program.

My only firewall was the Microsoft XP firewall which is
off. I ran the network wizard multiple times and still
cannot "net view" my tablet from my desktop. I suspect
that permissions are incorrect. I have no clue how to
fix this. Heavy sigh.

I just tried to add permission for my desktop using the
registry editor. When I click edit, permissions, and ADD
permissions, I cannot find the desktop in the choices.
However, when I click on the desktop in my network
places Ican access the desktop. (remember, I am trying
to access my Tablet from my Desktop)... Big HUH?
