One-way LAN access problem

I run a 2 computer home office network. Things worked
fine until 2 weeks ago. Both computers use Win XP
Professional. One machine, my ICS host computer, cannot
access my LAN any longer. The system response message
says "Mshome is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource...". However, my
other machine (the ICS client) still has working LAN
connections with the first. It reads/writes files from
shared directories on the ICS server machine and has ICS
services.

I don't know why this problem just cropped up. Both
computers had good LAN access until two weeks ago. I
tried the computer's Help and Service button with no
success. The problem sounds like a new security issue but
I cannot find references to the system response message or
what to do about it.

Please advise. Thanks.

just a thought, but do you have any firewall software
installed / recently updated / changed?. I was having
problems with my home LAN until I disabled the firewall,
then configured it to allow the LAN IP addresses through.
Can you Still "ping" both ways?

This doesn't seem to be a hardware issue. I can ping my
second computer from the one with no access in WinXP.
And, as said earlier the second machine can access (read &
write) to shared folders on the computer with this
problem. This may not be much consolation, but at least
we know there are others in the same boat.

I can ping both ways. Am using the McAfee firewall
software and it was updated in the same timeframe as the
trouble started. I've set LAN addresses as completely
trusted, with no joy. Anything else you might suggest.
