I have two win 2000 servers and I want replication to
strictly happen one way. DFS has been setup and working 2
way for about 6 months but something has come up and we
want replication to only occur from one server to another,
not back to the original server. I have set this server
up as master but the second server still sends new files
back. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

J.R.

You may have to clarify exactly what it is you're trying to accomplish,
but...

since you don't want ServerB to replicate to ServerA then, of course, you
must not allow any clients to write to ServerB. If you just take the
ServerB replicas offline in the DFS interface they will continue to
participate in the replication but will not be available to clients via DFS
(for reading or writing).

Does this get you what you want?

Thank you very much for your reply. I have already done
what you have suggested. Is there anyway to completely
stop serverB from writing to ServerA. Is there a
possiblilty for ServerB writing to ServerA when its not
suppose to?

Thanks,

J.R.

It is possible to set up a one-way connection so that data only replicates
in one direction. If you are using W2K3, you can do this by setting up a
custom topology in the DFS snap-in. If you are using W2K, you must install
the Windows XP Administration Tools pack (on an XP client) and use the DFS
snap-in (from the client) to set up the custom topology on a remote W2K DFS
server. Ideally you won't have clients making changes on ServerB, so I
recommend disabling the referrals as Daniel recommended.
