One video card, two distinct video displays on a laptop running XP?

Hi,

I thought I would post again here. Still having the same issue and
MS, IBM and S3 are not exactly helping.

For awhile now I heard that SP4 would allow us to multi mon (i.e.,
distinct diplays) from one video card. I have not been able to find
confirmation of this in any MS documentation. Was this just a rumor
that never was implemented?

This is possible in both 98 and in XP, but can it be done in 2000?

My setup is an IBM Thinkpad T22 with a S3 video card capable of
driving two diplays in either Win98 or XP. Upgrading or downgrading
the OS is not an option.

Thanks,

Paul

IIRC, Windows 2000 supports up to 9 displays. They can be all spread out as
one giant desktop, or they can all display the same thing.

Wait, maybe it's only two displays in 2000. It's 2 or 9. :] But whether
it's two or nine, you still have the same options of spanning the desktop or
duplicating it. I've run two displays in 2000 before, and I spanned the
desktop. But now I run XP.

W2000 does allow what you want. Unless you can find documentation to the
contrary, I reckon the physical hardware in the T22 does not. The video
connector is for attaching a separate display device like a CRT or projector to
show the same as the built-in LCD. It may not even be possible to have the
internal and external displays on at the same time.
