Hello,

I am running a wirless home network, using DHCP, with 10 devices on
it. I can see all the devices in the DHCP Clients table except for
one laptop. The laptop is linked, and I can guess its IP address (the
only unused number in a series, and then I can ping it by number from
the other computers on the network. The name of the computer does not
show up in the DHCP clients table, and I cannot ping the laptop by
name. I need to access the computer by name for some applications I am
running (wireless activesync to a pocket pc).

The laptop is an IBM, running Windows XP Professional.
The wirless router/DHCP server is a linksys.

Any suggestions for how to fix this?

Shut off the built in firewall in WinXP Pro
