One small problem

In word 2007, while generating a letter, I want:

Ajax Company
123 Main Street
Anytown, XX 12345

Instead I get

Ajax Company

123 Main Street

Anytown, XX 12345

It seems to me that when I do a return, Word thinks I want a new paragraph
and inserts an extra line....TIA
 
Thanks...Shift+Enter does the trick....

To add to what Bob said, when you press Enter you *are* beginning a new
paragraph, whether you mean to or not. Pressing Shift+Enter inserts a line
break, which starts a new line without starting a new paragraph.

Yes...I understand. I guess you can have a one line paragraph, or for that
matter one word or letter. Now that I think about it more, Word is
inserting an extra line in addition to starting new paragraph and thus the
problem in my case of doing a TO: FROM: type letter. Word 2000 on my laptop
does not do this.
 
Word does not insert "an extra line." It is inserting a *line space* (more
or less) because the default Normal style is now defined as having 10 pts
Space After.
