One site will not resolve

For the two gentlement who have been helping me with this,
for some reason I could not post a reply to the last
thread. I got the following message:

The message could not be posted to the NNTP server. The
transport error code was 0x800ccca9. The server response
was 441 (629) Article Rejected -- Ill-formed message
id '<ONBjrYzeEHA.636@TK2MSFTNGP' in field 'References:'

Anyway, I tried what Kevin suggested, lowering the MTU a
few times, going as low as 1000. Made no difference.

I also tried changing the RWIN value to 7300 as suggested
by the Tweak Test on dslreports. Still no resolve.

Be assured, your persistance IS appreciated. Where would
you suggest I start looking if you don't think it is a DNS
issue.

Can I ask what the DNS server IP you are using for your forwarder?
There is one other possibility that could be DNS related, if one of your
forwarder DNS does not support recursive queries. Since the A record has
only a 20 second ttl it would have to be resolved every 20 seconds, instead
of loading from cache.
 
The DNS servers for my ISP are 205.171.3.65 and
205.171.2.65. One person suggested that I try 4.2.2.2 so
I added it to the list also. Also tried moving it to the
top.

I am trying something else today to isolate where the
problem is. I have a router that has a backup modem
capability. I am going to put it on the network and dial
in to the server rather than use my DSL. This should tell
me if the problem is on my server or outside it
somewhere. Will post the results later.

Can you do us a favor? Take your machine to someone else's line, whether it
be cable, DSL, at work on your T1, if you have one, or anywhere else, but
not a dialup line, and then tell us if this problem happens there as well.
And wherever you take it, tell us if a machine at that location has the same
problem with that page.

Your NUA (Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000, a web interface) is faulty.
Apparently, when it creates the References: header for a reply message,
it doesn't perform truncation properly in the case that the header would
otherwise be too long, and instead truncates it in the middle of a
Message-ID.

Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000 is well-known to have problems with the
References: header.

This might be a little difficult as it is the server for
my business and my wifes store. I can see if I can
somehow run a CAT 5 cable from a neighboring office, out
of their router and into the WAN port of another router in
my office. Might take a day or two since they are out for
the weekend so check back.

BUT...
I did as I said. I replaced the DSL Modem/Router with
another router connected to an external modem. That
configuration works just fine. The peculiar thing is it
takes me to a differnt set of pages (on the same site),
pages with alot less graphics. I wonder if the site
perhaps senses the connection speed and routes/redirects
accordingly. Is this a common thing. Not being a
webmaster I have never considered that. Could I be
narrowing in on something here??

Well, didn't have to wait as long as I thought. I went to
the neighboring suite and took a CAT 5 cable from their
router to a router in my office, setup like the DSL
modem/router, just not the modem. It is set up the same
as far as the network is concerned.And everything works
just fine. It even went back to the redirect w/ more
graphics vs. text.

So, I guess that what??? Places the problem w/ the DSL
modem/router. That seems logical except it is strange
that it is still the only site that does not work right.

I think this is really bizarre. Guess I will have to look
around for another modem/router to verify with.

Please check back on occasion as I try to isolate this.

Well,

I just updated the firmware on my DSL Modem / Router and
the world is a wonderful place. All seems to be copasetic
(sp). In case you ever get something like this again it
is an Actiontek 1524 DSL Gateway.

I'm glad all is ok! The two threads made me really wonder what was going on
until I came up with that suggestion. Glad it helped you to find the answer.
I'll be sure to stay away from the Actiontek's, unless a client has one.
Funny why Actiontec would do such a thing with their equipment unless it was
just an oversight!

Who'd thought of that on the first look!
We knew there is a problem with Win2k3 and PIX but, you had neither of these
just another bit of hardware we have to watch for. I wonder what the problem
was with the firmware? I'll have to look it up.
