Its not noticeable with a white page. It must turn white.
With other colors its also not noticeable.

But with a black page instead of black this one pixel about 3 inches
from the left side 6 inches from the top of my 19" VIewsonic LCD is
bright blue instead.

I guess if you have to have a bad pixel this is the best one to have
as its only noticeable when you stare at it. but now Im paranoid itll
get progressively worse and stay blue on white page which will really
stand out.

I guess I should just live with it a year from now 19" monitors will
probably sell for 199 everywhere so itll be no big deal I guess to
replace it if it gets worse.

Man that sucks. Even the generics I bought recently for some relatives
and friends didnt have any noticeably bad pixels and boy did they
look. I could swear it wasnt there when the first two weeks Ivead
it.

I would test it with Dead Pixel Test

See if it stays blue. It sound like a stuck pixel.

This is hilarious it went away.

I stared at it all day and even tried to wipe it off thinking it might
be a tiny spot of spit or something. Then I tried gently massaging it
, which some say works Nothing.

Today I turned it on and I noticed no bright blue pixel with a black
screen.

Stupid question, but had you rebooted your PC?

Every once in a while I get a white dot at a certain place on my monitor
-- I always assumed it was an LCD problem on my four year old 18" LCD.
Luckily the position was somewhere that isn't obtrusive.

I never reboot and only occasionally shut down, but after shutting down
overnight it would usually be gone the next day.

I just recently purchased a 20.1" widescreen LCD (Dell 2005FP), and the
white dot showed up in the exact same position. What are the odds, huh?

So I did a little digging, it seems to go away if I power the PC off
completely (Including ATX power off, and wait 4-5 seconds for the
remaining power in the system to drain -- Specifically, wait for the USB
power to turn off too). Neither rebooting, nor powering off (but
leaving the power supply on) is sufficient to clear it.

I'm suspecting a video card problem now, perhaps some bad video RAM, but
I don't have the budget to replace the video card at the moment unless
anybody can suggest a replacement video card that has dual DVI outputs
and can handle a monitor at 1680x1050 and second monitor at 1280x1024.

So far the only ones I can find that have dual DVI out are well beyond
my price range. I don't game at all or do any 3D work on this machine.

I occasionally watch movies, but mostly I just use 2D applications, so I
don't really need anything all that fancy other then I'd like to go dual
monitor, but I need DVI-D outputs on both.

You know I might have. I dont remember exactly but I often turn it off
at night and then turn it on in the morning so I probably did. I
actually was hoping for such an effect cause I read what I thought was
a peculiar post where someone claimed their video card or something
was causing a bad pixel like effect.

I have a feeling video cards are really going down in price in the
next 12 months. Its the whole PCI E switchover and all that. Believe
me Im watching prices like a hawk cause Im one of the people on a
waiting list for the new ATI 800XL card and Ive been waiting over a
month with my system sitting around waiting for that card. I actually
have one shrinkwrapped still at retail price that I miraculously got
in-store but Im waiting 2-3 weeks to see if my pre-order comes through
instead. If it doesnt in the next 2 weeks Im probably going to just
use the card I bought.
